Sydney Writers’ Festival – Live and Local

Date and time: 26th May 2017 - 28th May 2017 All Day

Location: State Cinema, 375 Elizabeth Street, North Hobart

The Tasmanian Writers Centre is partnering with the State Cinema to offer you the chance to see all the best of the Sydney Writers Festival, without even having to leave Hobart.

One of Australia’s best-loved forums for literature, ideas and storytelling, Sydney Writers’ Festival will stream its headline events from Roslyn Packer Theatre in Walsh Bay from 26 – 28 May.

Prepare to be stimulated and engaged by conversations, debates and discussions, as the Festival brings the world’s finest authors to us in real time via digital live-streaming project, Live & Local. As well as hearing new ideas from great thinkers, audiences have the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions at each event, sending questions direct to the Sydney stage via text message.

The State Cinema will be screening the entire programme in our comfy and scenic Screening Room – tickets are $15 Adult or $12 Concession per session. Seats are limited so getting your tickets early is highly recommended! Remember that if you’re a Tasmanian Writers Centre member it entitles you to a concession rate ticket.

There are three Premium sessions on Sunday afternoon that will take place on the glorious silver screen in a cinema auditorium, tickets to these are $19 Adult or $17 Concession per session.

Featured writers include: Pulitzer Prize-winning author Susan Faludi, Yassmin Abdel-Magied, Clementine Ford, Maxine Beneba Clarke, Annabel Crabb, Leigh Sales, and Tracey Spicer. There is also a session with Saroo Brierley, author of A Long Way Home, and for families there are sessions with the ever-popular Lauren Child and Andy Griffiths.

Book your tickets and find the full programme on the State Cinema Website.
