Our Programme

TasWriters offers year-round support and a range of opportunities for writers, to help with education, networking and industry knowledge.

The Aspiring and Emerging Writers Development Program

Opportunities, workshops and mentorships assisting writers at the very beginning of their practice. These include opportunities to be an embedded writer at major Tasmanian festivals, opportunities for residencies to work on your own pieces, as well as ongoing paid publishing opportunities for shorter works from articles and essays to short stories, flash fiction and even comics and illustrations on a literary theme.

Manuscript Assessment

We offer a Manuscript Assessment Service to all TasWriters members. We will choose an assessor for you from our team of qualified, published Tasmanian authors in a range of genres. Your assessment will incorporate answers to any specific questions you may want addressed, together with recommendations by the assessor as to how publishable the manuscript is currently and suggestions for improvements.

Learn more and submit your manuscript for assessment today.

Be Seen, Be Heard!

A brand new concept for the writers centre will see young people (under 25) able to take part in a program to produce micro stories (2 to 5 minutes) for a digital video platform. The participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars on subjects from writing for the screen to the use of cameras and sound equipment. We have also set aside specific funding for this particular project such that participants can hail from all over Tasmania and we will leave stream or video cast the workshops and seminars to them so that they don’t have to travel.

This is a first for TasWriters, please watch this space for the call out when applications open.
