The Tasmanian Writers Centre offers year-round support and a range of programs to provide education, networking, and industry knowledge.
A Writer’s Journey
The focus of our A Writer’s Journey program for 2017 is non-fiction, and we will be running workshops that focus on the challenges and rewards of a variety of non-fiction formats. Topics include memoir and life writing, environmental journalism, how to research for non-fiction and freelance feature writing. All workshops will be presented by leading journalists and writers.
We offer a Manuscript Assessment Service to all Tasmanian Writers Centre members. We will choose an assessor for you from our team of qualified, published Tasmanian authors in a range of genres. Your assessment will incorporate answers to any specific questions you may want addressed, together with recommendations by the assessor as to how publishable the manuscript is currently and suggestions for improvements.
Erica Bell Mentorship Program
The Erica Bell Mentorship Program celebrates excellence in Tasmanian literature. Writers submit an excerpt from their manuscript and upon success will receive one-on-one mentorship with an established writer over a six month period. If you are a Tasmanian writer looking to present your book to a publisher, we highly recommend you apply for the next round.
Teachers and Assessors
If you would like to have your manuscript assessed by a Tasmanian writer in a genre of your choice – from children’s writing to memoir, fiction, and more – let us connect you with an industry expert. This service is available to our members.
