We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the position of Chair for our established and thriving arts organisation.
The Tasmanian Writers Centre is not-for profit, tax deductible and receives funds through Federal and State Government agencies. Established in 1998 and centrally located in the Salamanca Arts Centre, it offers a state-wide program catering to writers at all levels of their careers. Central to the centre’s goals are: sustainability, artistic merit and community engagement. It caters to a diverse constituency and weaves a culture of reading, conversation and debate into the fabric of island life.
An experienced and dedicated team, led by the CEO, curates and manages the annual program of workshops, classes and events as well as the biennial Tasmanian Writers and Readers Festival. The festival is scheduled for 6-17 September 2017 and will be held Hadley’s Orient Hotel in Hobart.
The Committee of Management has nine members and meets six times a year. It oversees the strategic direction of the TWC, appoints and supports the CEO and assists to build the reputation of Tasmanian writers nationally. Board terms are for at least two years and elected annually at the AGM in April.
